Annual Evidence Update on Prostate Cancer: 7-11 March 2011

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - cancer

This is the sixth Annual Evidence Update on Prostate Cancer to be produced by the Cancer Specialist Collection. This year, the Kidney Diseases And Male Urogenital Disorders Specialist Collection team have collaborated with the Cancer Specialist Collection team to search for and appraise the evidence published since March 2010. Commentaries on the evidence will also be available, such as the following:

• The benefits of robotic surgery over open surgery - Lona Vyas and Ben Challacombe, The Urology Centre, Guy's Hospital.
• Optimizing the use of prostate biopsy - Alastair Henderson, Consultant Urological Surgeon, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Annual Evidence Update on Head and Neck Cancer: 1-5 November 2010

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - cancer, NHS Evidence - ENT and audiology and NHS Evidence - oral health.

NHS Evidence specialist collections for cancer, ENT and audiology, and oral health will launch the first collaborative Head and Neck Cancer Annual Evidence Update on 1 November 2010.
The update will include key guidance and quality appraised systematic reviews published since the SIGN guidance, combined with expert commentaries on the following topics:
  • Causes, risks and prevention
  • Screening
  • Assessment and diagnosis
  • Treatment and disease management
  • Service delivery and standards.
Additional therapeutic uncertainties will highlight research gaps and there will be links to relevant high quality patient information.

Annual Evidence Update on Oesophago-gastric Cancer: 21-25 June 2010

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - cancer and NHS Evidence - gastroenterology and liver diseases.

The second Annual Evidence Update on Oesophago-gastric Cancer will be prepared jointly by NHS Evidence - cancer and NHS Evidence - gastroenterology and liver diseases on 21 June 2010. It will include systematic reviews and guidance published since the last Annual Evidence Update in June 2009, clinical commentary by Dr. Jamshed B. Bomanji (on FDG PET) and an overview by Dr Chris Alcock.

Annual Evidence Update on Skin Cancer: 10-14 May 2010

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - cancer and NHS Evidence - skin disorders.

This is the third Annual Evidence Update on Skin Cancer run jointly by NHS Evidence – cancer and NHS Evidence – skin disorders and published to correspond with Sun Awareness Week. It presents the results of a search for new guidance and systematic reviews that have appeared since last year’s Annual Evidence Update. There will also be expert commentaries discussing the significance of the new evidence in a variety of topic areas. The update of the Annual Evidence Update on skin cancer provides an opportunity to present an up-to-date comprehensive collection of systematic reviews and guidance that have been published since May 2009 and have been subject to rigorous selection criteria. Information is organised by topic areas and links are provided within each topic to the relevant systematic reviews, guidelines and patient information.

Annual Evidence Update on Oesophago-gastric Cancers: 22-26 June 2009

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence – cancer and NHS Evidence - gastroenterology and liver diseases .

This is the first Annual Evidence Update (AEU) on oesophago-gastric cancers and is a collaboration between NHS Evidence – cancer and NHS Evidence – gastroenterology and liver diseases. It presents the results of a search for new guidance and systematic reviews that have appeared in the last 2 years. As this is first AEU in this topic area an overview will be presented, highlighting significant new evidence, together with other important resources. Commentaries will be sought for the AEU in 2010.

National Knowledge Week on Skin Cancer: 5-9 May 2008

An update of the evidence on this topic produced by the NLH Cancer and Skin Disorders Specialist Libraries.

The National Library for Health (NLH) Cancer Specialist Library and Skin Disorders Specialist Library are holding their first National Knowledge Week on Skin Cancer from Monday 5 May until Friday 9 May 2008. This event is being arranged to correspond with Sun Awareness Week and Euro Melanoma Day, which is on 5 May this year.

The National Knowledge Week is particularly aimed at NHS health professionals, and will highlight sources of information and guidance on skin cancers and their treatment.

Included as part of the Knowledge Week will be the Libraries’ first Annual Evidence Updates on Melanoma and Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer, which brings together the results of a comprehensive search for systematic reviews published over the last three years.
There will also be commentaries from invited experts discussing new evidence and recent developments in a wide range of skin cancer topics.
