Launch of the Specialist Library for Patient and Public Involvement

Patient and public involvement in health care is a central strand of government policy. Health and social care today aspires to provide services based on the views of people who use them, and to enable people to participate in and contribute to their own care.

A significant but fragmented body of knowledge has been built up both on user involvement in areas such as policy development and self-care, and on strengthening NHS accountability to patients and to local communities. The new Specialist Library for PPI aims to support the implementation of both collective and individual involvement in health care by providing access, in one location, to the best information which is available on the web.

You can access the library at www.library.nhs.uk/ppi

The Specialist Library for PPI is managed by the King's Fund Information and Library Service.
