a-z list

The a-z list will soon be available. This will provide a single integrated list of all electronic journals available to library users. User will be able to browse national content and once logged in to the system with ATHENS a user will also be able to view their regional and local journals in a single a-z list.

In order for the local/regional e-journals to be available we need service managers to upload their electronic journals into Dialog eLinks, which will then be uploaded into TDNET.

The deadline for the uploading of local/regional electronic journals into eLinks is the end of May. Please try to meet this date. If you have any queries or difficulties contact your SHA library lead.

LibQUAL+ pilot

The LibQUAL+ pilot has now begun across 9 health library services and an independent health library. LibQUAL+ is a survey instrument produced by the Association of Research Libraries in the United States, which aims to enable libraries to solicit, track, understand and act upon users' opinions of service quality.

The project aims to:

1. Assess the capacity to ‘solicit, track and understand’ customer expectation.
2. Assess the questionnaire as a tool for service planning and development.
3. The potential for use by independent health libraries.

Changes to Core Content journals

You may notice some changes in the journals being searched by the SSE from this month. National Core Content have acquired 450 new Health Management journals from Proquest, which will replace journals from Swetswise and EBSCO. This change provides a more cost effective service to the NHS.

The new journals are already searchable via simple search, which searches all available core content within SSE. The option to select and search only the Proquest Health Management Journals via the Advanced Search screens will be available from mid May.

The new service includes journals like Clinical Risk, Clinical Governance, The Clinical Governance Bulletin and The International Journal of Quality in Health Care; Health Information on the Internet; Health Service Management Research and The Journal of Health Service Research and Policy

Developments to the NLH website

There are two new changes to the NLH website:

Specialist Libraries
http://www.library.nhs.uk/

The migration of the specialist libraries to the NLH website is now complete.

My Library
http://www.library.nhs.uk/mylibrary/

The first phase in the development of My Library is now live on the NLH website. My Library allows an individual to create their own home page, with their own favourite RSS feeds and websites and when logged in lists all the resources available to them.

When the new library directory is available, this will be integrated with My Library, so a library user can located their local health library
