Annual Evidence Update on Special Care Dentistry: 30 November - 3 December 2010

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - oral health.

NHS Evidence - oral health presents its third Annual Evidence Update on the topic of Special Care Dentistry. The 2010 Update is published to coincide with meetings of the two professional societies for special care dentistry (British Society for Disability and Oral Health and British Society of Gerodontology). The Update brings together new guidance and systematic reviews relevant to Special Care Dentistry that have been published since the last update, accompanied by a commentary on the evidence.

Annual Evidence Update on Stroke: 30 November - 3 December 2010

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - stroke.

Following on from the last Annual Evidence Update in November 2009, this update for health professionals and patients will present significant advances in knowledge about stroke rehabilitation. Topics will include organisation of care, upper limbs, mobility, speech and language, basic personal needs, cognition and perception and living with stroke. There will also be a section on uncertainties identified and, as usual, expert summaries will be included to help make sense of the new evidence presented.

Annual Evidence Update on HIV/AIDs: 30 November - 3 December 2010

An update of the evidence on this topic from NHS Evidence - infections and NHS Evidence - National Library for Public Health.

To coincide with World Aids Day on 1 December NHS Evidence - infections is launching its Annual Evidence Update on HIV and TB co-infection and the National Library for Public Health (NLPH) will be publishing its Annual Evidence Update on HIV/AIDS - Behaviour change in high-risk populations.

The Annual Evidence Update from NHS Evidence - infections will focus on HIV and TB co-infection, with guidelines, systematic reviews and other evidence that has emerged in the last 12 months. Experts in the field have written commentaries, and links to useful websites are also provided.

Expert commentaries include:
  • The global overview of HIV and TB co-infection
  • An overview of the BHIVA guidelines for treatment of HIV and TB co-infection
  • Clinical implications of HIV and TB co-infection for GPs
  • An overview of HIV and TB co-infection in the UK
  • Diagnostic tests and guidelines.
The Annual Evidence Update from the National Library for Public Health will identify and contextualise all high-level evidence and guidelines published in the last 12 months on behaviour change interventions in high-risk populations including ethnic minorities, gay men, injecting drug users, commercial sex workers, and other populations. The NLPH has teamed up with experts in the field of sexual health to evaluate the evidence.
